What a fantastic way to show your
love and affection to
your children - with a child poem! Some can be cute and funny.
One can also use a short poem for a god child in religious or
christening ceremonies.
This would be most welcomed in a card or as an addition
to a lovely gift. Very thoughtful and inspirational indeed...

There Are No Words to Say How Much I Love You
There are no words to say how much I love you:
Half my love might fit into a song.
In times of prayer I look for you to hold,
Reaching for you more as I grow old,
Taking, as I gave when I was strong.
Years have turned the tides of Being towards you.
Now my hopes are reconfigured for you:
In me there's no bright dream for which I long,
Nor measure of my pride as I behold
Each day the grace your childhood foretold.

You Are the Rose About to Bloom
You are the rose about to bloom,
The color soon to wake,
The perfume set to scent the breeze,
The bud about to break.
You stand upon the lip of time
Alight with what will be,
And see yourself out to the sky
Across the open sea.
We see you vertically, a gift
Too beautiful to plumb,
And treasure all the years you were
And all the years to come.

Love Comes Through the Eyes That See
Love comes through the eyes that see
And through the ears that hear,
For people are quite beautiful,
And words make feelings clear.
Love comes through the hands that touch
With unabashed affection,
For only skin-to-skin can love
Maintain its true direction.
Love comes through the tastes and smells
Of fresh and well-cooked food,
For in the gift of nourishment
Is much else that is good.
But though love comes through senses five,
Love comes from the heart,
For there resides the greater love
Of which ours is a part.

Life Is Beautiful, My Child
Life is beautiful, my child,
Though many things go wrong,
And you may hear much sadness in
Its strange and lovely song.
Though friends and loved ones die, my child,
They're never really gone.
Nor more nor less than yesterday,
In you they will live on.
They will live on in you, my child,
As everything you see,
Though it must vanish, will remain
Alive in memory.
Alive in what you think and feel
And dream and say and do,
For all who ever were still are
Upon this earth in you.

I Wish for You One Thing, and That Is Love
I wish for you one thing, and that is love:
Love for life, and pure, unfettered joy
At being here upon this vivid earth.
May great pleasure come from giving pleasure,
And love that streams out from your burning heart
Light the darkened world and make it bloom.
I wish you to be loved both well and long
By all those whom you love; that these be many,
Among whom, not the least, might be yourself.
May you love the beautiful and good,
And always act with honesty and justice,
Being what you would that others be.
But most of all, I wish for you a love
Into which your love might plunge and drown,
An ocean in which you might live and breathe.
