The Chinese Horoscopes being an ancient art is built on 4,000 years of chinese astronomers observing the stars and calculating a calendar that told people when the seasons began. The zodiac astrology offers amazing background information about daily fortune, life and the possibilities of dating, romance, love, relationship and friendship.
The Chinese zodiac is a cycle of twelve chinese years placed under the signs of the 12 following symbolic animals: Rat, Buffalo (or Ox), Tiger, Cat (or Rabbit or Hare), Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep (or Goat or Ram), Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig (or Boar). The Chinese have named years after animals for thousands of years. You can find out more about yourself, the people around you and your best options for dating and the best possible relationship you may find.
According to Chinese legend, the twelve animals quarreled one day as to who was to head the cycle of years. The gods were asked to decide and they held a contest. The contest - whoever was to reach the opposite bank of the river would be first and the rest of the animals would receive their years according to their finish.
All the twelve animals gathered at the river bank and jumped in. Unknown to the ox, the rat had jumped upon his back. As the ox was about to jump ashore, the rat jumped off the ox's back and won the race. The pig, who was very lazy, ended up last. That is why the rat is the first year of the animal cycle, the ox second, and the pig last.
The 12 Chinese signs are also governed by five elements. These five elements are representations of the five visible planets of old. They are wood, fire, earth, metal
and water. The Chinese zodiac horoscope doesn't focus on predicting the future.
Instead, it sees itself primarily as an interpretive art and practical philosophy.
